Peter Warren, AIA, LEED AP

The Basics

Peter has over 20 years of professional experience ranging from public projects in remote Alaskan communities to corporate work in Mumbai, along with both residential and commercial projects in the Memphis area.  He has worked for architecture firms in Tennessee, Michigan, Alaska, and New York City. He returned home to Memphis in 2008 and founded Warren Architecture in 2012 with economy, building performance, and sustainability as points of emphasis. Throughout his practice, Peter has placed an emphasis on invaluable front-end research in building code, life safety, and zoning regulations. Peter is a strong advocate of site-specific design and creative use of materials.  He is simultaneously inspired by historic preservation, as well as modern re-interpretations of historic forms.

Education & Licensure

Peter holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan and a BA from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Originally licensed to practice architecture in New York, Peter is now a licensed Architect in the state of Tennessee.

Organizations & Service

Serving the Memphis community is a point of pride. Following an appointment by then Mayor Wharton, Peter served on the Public Art Oversight Committee for six years. As one of seven members of the PAOC, he worked in tandem with the Urban Art Commission in an advisory capacity when city funds were allocated for public art. Peter’s most recent public service included  a 5-year appointment by Mayor Strickland to the Memphis Landmarks Commission. The nine-member MLC governs all visible alteration, additions, and new construction within the city’s historic districts. Peter is a past board member of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Memphis Chapter, and his passion for sustainable and energy efficient design led him to become a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) in 2007. Peter is also a past adjunct professor of architecture at the University of Memphis where he taught design studio.
